Rosebank School's Vision

"To provide our students with an excellent all-round education that prepares them to be responsible productive citizens of their world."

Schools in the twenty-first century are very different places to the schools we experienced. Schools were then defined as places of learning; buildings set apart from the day-to-day world we lived in, with a curriculum defined by a set of knowledge, skills and attitudes designed to build a work-force suitable for the industrial age. As the world shifts more and more into the information age, schools now have to exist in a world beyond bricks and mortar, and provide a range of learning experiences which places each individual student at the centre of their curriculum.

What does this mean for your child? It means their experience of learning will be both very familiar and very different to the schooling we experienced. Schools will still focus on foundational knowledge - literacy and numeracy are still the building blocks of any education. However our children now live in a "just-in-time" world. They no longer want to acquire knowledge on a "just-in-case" basis; instead they will source the information they need at the time they need to use it. The ready availability of the world wide web brings knowledge literally to every child's fingertips. This means we need to teach our children a new form of literacy - one where they can apply and use knowledge in real and authentic situations. As they do this, they build their capacity to grow new knowledge and new understandings.

In this new world, learning is no longer limited to the time children spend at school. Every experience and every opportunity offers them the chance to learn anew, and as a school it now becomes our responsibility to use these to model the building blocks of success. The renowed American basketball coach John Wooden once defined success the following way:

"Success is peace of mind which is a direct result of the self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable."

At Rosebank School we believe in the principle that success breeds success. It is our job to find the talents of each individual student and to use these as the vehicle by which we can create students of excellence and students of integrity. We want to see every child achieve personal bests and then challenge them to exceed what they have already done. And we want to see every child demonstrate their integrity by demonstrating:

  • Industriousness
  • Friendship
  • Loyalty
  • Cooperation
  • Enthusiasm

Rosebank School is a school where we place your child first. Rosebank School is a school where we focus on providing an excellent learning environment where all children have the opportunity to be the best they can. And Rosebank School is a school where we work alongside children and their families to build a genuine learning partnership.
