Welcome to the Room 1 and 2 Homework Page
Each week the children will have reading and spelling homework.
Reading:
Children are expected to read at home each night. Children will have a reading book from school four nights per week. Please encourage your child to read their books and to make attempts at unknown words themselves. It is important to help your child make connections between letters, words and ideas in the story.
The children should also have their word tin in their reading folder. Words will be added to this tin as your child learns them. You can use the words in their word tin as flashcards to show your child, or to make sentences.
Spelling:
Each week the children will have a Spelling homework sheet to complete. The words on this sheet will be introduced in class first.
The homework provides extra practice for the children and helps them to learn the patterns and sounds in the words. When the children complete each sheet please make sure they say each sound as they write it. They should write each word four times before moving on to the next word.
Words will be tested at school at the end of each week.
