Homework in Syndicate A.
1 February 2012
Dear parents and caregivers
This letter is to inform you of our expectations with regards to homework in Syndicate A.
The purpose of homework at Rosebank School is to support students in the development of good habits and attitudes, self-discipline, responsibility and a love of learning. Homework should be linked to the classroom programme and should be able to be completed by the student independently at home.
In Syndicate A the maximum amount of time each child should spend on homework is 40 minutes per night (or 120 minutes per week). It is important that some time is set aside each day for this. If there is a legitimate reason why your child has not completed his/her homework for the week please inform the class teacher by Friday. In other cases where homework has not been completed or is not handed in on time, students will be expected to finish/ redo in their own time, which may include interval and lunchtime. In cases where homework is regularly not being completed parents will be contacted by the class teacher.
Homework will be issued by the class teacher at the beginning of the week and will be collected in for marking at the end of the week. Each student has a homework book in which to complete the week’s homework activities. No homework will be set over the weekend or during holidays. Teachers are available to help at any stage, and school resources are available for use if there is insufficient information at home.
If there are any problems with the amount of, or difficulty with, homework tasks please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely
Ali Orchard, Shirley Katon and Marne Hendriks
